Determine what length you’d like for your rug according to the existing furniture and decor in your room. For a large-scale DIY rug, you can have any dimensions according to your preferences. To create the rug with a netting grid, follow the instructions given below:

• Take three stripes of fabric and start braiding them while knotting them together at one end. Braid the strips together while crossing the right strip on top of the middle one.
• Next, bind the left strip over the new middle strip, and continue doing so until you reach the end of the strips. To secure the braid, make sure to tie a knot in the end.
• To form the rug, start at the center of your rug base and twist the braid tightly. Now stitch or glue it in place as you go. This will determine the center of your rug.
• Continue coiling the braid around itself while adding more fabric strips to the braid. Keep adding more as needed to maintain the size and shape of the rug.

Stitch or glue the braid to the base periodically to secure it in place. Keep braiding new fabric strips and coiling them around the previous rows until you reach the desired size for your rug. Keep stitching and gluing the braid to secure it in its base periodically while twisting. Repeat the same process for the entire dimension until you get the desired large-scale rug size.

As soon as you complete the braid coiling process, stitch and glue the end of the braid to the base to secure it. Make sure to check every edge of the rug for any unattended braid. Lastly, cut out the excess fabric to ensure a neat edge. Now go for a final finish by adding a fabric backing to your rug for extra cushioning and stability.
